You are looking at 11+ years of oil collecting from 8 different brands. It’s a little wild for me to think I’ve been using essential oils for this long! Its been an awesome journey and let me share with you how it all started…
Shortly after we had our first baby, I literally threw out ALL the OTC & prescribed medicine we had in the house. Yes, you read that right… I threw out everything. Tylenol. Advil. Antibiotics. Creams. Etc…
EVERYTHING… and. never. looked. back.
You’re probably wondering WHY would I do a crazy thing like that?!
Many reasons, my personality is “it’s all or nothing”, but the one big reason is due to my own personal experience. As a child I swallowed a whole bottle of baby Tylenol, thinking it was candy, and my parents had to rush me to the emergency room to have my stomach pumped. So, yeah, I didn’t want that experience to be repeated with my own kids… especially now that we live in boonies of Honduras where nearest emergency care is over an hour away.
The first year since I “purged” every toxic thing out of my house, I learned quickly to replace the conventional medicine with natural alternatives such as homeopathy, herbs, clean foods, supplements, truly natural body care, and essential oils. Once I started seeing and experiencing amazing results of using these non-toxic & healthier alternatives, I was aaallll in! I replaced all my toxic cleaning products with non-toxic, DIY cleaning alternatives. I threw out ALL my Bath&BodyWorks soaps, BedHead shampoos, perfumes, and replaced them with truly natural soaps, shampoos, and made my own perfumes using essential oils (and, yes, I threw out all the man stuff too!). It’s been a long road of learning and growing, but I’ve never once felt the need to purchase a bottle of Tylenol or visit the doctor to get a prescription for my family and I don’t miss the smelly Bath&BodyWorks soaps or BedHead shampoos or any of the usual cleaning products!!
I love oils for many reasons and I’m so grateful for what I’ve learned about oils, along with everything else, to help keep my family strong and healthy while serving in Honduras for the past 8 years. I hope my story doesn’t scare you away, but inspires you to be brave & bold!
